UfiSpace Joins Telecom Infra Project's Open BNG Initiative
UfiSpace’s open disaggregated routers will provide more options for global operators to deploy Open BNG.
New Taipei, Taiwan, May 12, 2021 - UfiSpace, the leading provider of open disaggregated networking solutions has announced their support for Open BNG, an initiative created by the Telecom Infra Project (TIP). With the Open BNG requirements defined by major operators including Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom, BT, Telecom Italia and Vodafone, UfiSpace will be participating in the Open BNG initiative with their disaggregated aggregation routers to enable more options for global operators to adopt Open BNG solutions.
"TIP's Open BNG initiative brings the industry one step closer to a fully disaggregated and open transport network,” said Vincent Ho, CEO of UfiSpace. "We will be doing our part to support operators in their broadband infrastructure evolution by offering flexibility, versatility, and cost-savings brought forth by our open disaggregated platforms.”
TIP is a global community of companies and organizations working together to accelerate the development and deployment of open, disaggregated, and standards-based technology solutions. The Open BNG project is part of TIP's Open Optical & Packet Transport (OOPT) Disaggregated Open Router (DOR) sub-group. Previously, UfiSpace was the first to contribute their S9700 Series to the DOR sub-group.
Traditional solutions are based on monolithic platforms that are vendor locked, making it extremely difficult to introduce new innovations from other solution providers into their network. The Open BNG from TIP aims to define and open and disaggregated platform that reduces deployment costs, operational costs and provides the scalability required for multiple scenarios.
"TIP's participants see that open and disaggregated BNGs are the best way to meet the continuous traffic growth in today's fixed line networks,”said David Hutton, Chief Engineer of TIP.“Operators need a diverse range of performant and scalable technology solutions from partners such as UfiSpace, and we welcome their support for the Open BNG initiative.”
UfiSpace's open disaggregated routers offers a multitude of options for scalability when deploying Open BNG. For larger scales, UfiSpace's also provides the industry's first platform to be deployed using the distributed disaggregated chassis design, which breaks apart a traditional monolithic chassis into self-sustained, easy to manage white boxes. This enables more flexibility and versatility for application service deployment and allows for a pay-as-you-grow model to scale capacity as operators grow their network.
About TIP
The Telecom Infra Project (TIP) is a global community of companies and organizations that are driving infrastructure solutions to advance global connectivity. Half of the world's population is still not connected to the internet, and for those who are, connectivity is often insufficient. This limits access to the multitude of consumer and commercial benefits provided by the internet, thereby impacting GDP growth globally. However, a lack of flexibility in the current solutions - exacerbated by a limited choice in technology providers - makes it challenging for operators to efficiently build and upgrade networks. Founded in 2016, TIP is a community of diverse members that includes hundreds of companies - from service providers and technology partners, to systems integrators and other connectivity stakeholders. We are working together to develop, test and deploy open, disaggregated, and standards-based solutions that deliver the high quality connectivity that the world needs - now and in the decades to come.
